Is It Normal For A Leopard Gecko To Produce Clear Liquid?
The only situation where it is normal for a leopard gecko producing clear liquid is if the leopard gecko gets a sudden shock and it can produce clear pee in liquid form.
All other causes of clear liquid being peed, pooped, or vomited out of a leopard gecko are not considered normal or natural and are often an indication that something may be wrong.
That said, some of them may be due to a simple, one off problem that is nothing to worry about and in most cases, a leopard gecko that is producing clear liquid will be fine.
Why Is My Leopard Gecko Pooping Clear Liquid?

The two main reasons that your leopard gecko will product clear liquid is due to getting a shock causing it to pee clear liquid or due to there being an issue causing the leopard gecko to vomit after drinking water.
There are some less common causes of a leopard gecko producing clear water or liquid when pooping or in other situations but these are rare.
If you want a veterinarian to assess your leopard gecko to give you a professional opinion then you are able to book a video call with a vet to have them check your leopard gecko via your smartphone camera.
Still, here is some potential causes of why your leopard gecko is producing clear liquid.
Why Did My Leopard Gecko Pee Clear Liquid?
It can be totally normal for a leopard gecko to pee clear liquid if the gecko gets a sudden, unexpected shock or is scared of something.
This is an uncontrollable reaction to the emotion and although leopard geckos usually pee in in urate form where their pee is a part of their poop, in this particular case, they can pee freely and it is usually a clear liquid.
We have an ultimate guide to leopard gecko pee that offers more information on this as well as a few other key points that leopard geckos should be aware of.
If your leopard gecko has not just been shocked or is not scared then clear, liquid pee can be a sign of an internal issue and you should take your pet to see a vet.
Why Did My Leopard Gecko Vomit Clear Liquid?
The other common cause of a leopard gecko producing clear liquid is when they have just drank some water and then vomit it straight back up again.
This usually happens because the water has either been taken in too quickly or because the stomach is not used to having water in it after not drinking for a while.
If this happens once then it is usually nothing to worry about as long as your leopard gecko does not appear to be unwell in any other way.
Just offer them a small drink next time and see how they go, if they vomit it up again then you may need to seek professional help.
Internal parasites and problems with the diet of the leopard gecko can also cause problems with the reptile being able to retain its water after drinking it causing the leopard gecko to vomit the clear water back up shortly after drinking.
Why Did My Leopard Gecko Poop Clear Liquid?
There are a few reasons that your leopard gecko may poop clear liquid instead of the usual urate form that their poop comes in.
The most common reason is due to there not being enough solid food particles in the stomach for the leopard gecko to process meaning that all that comes out is the clear, liquid part of their poop.
This can be due to a number of reasons such as not feeding the leopard gecko enough food, not feeding them the right type of food or if they are not digesting their food properly.
Leopard geckos should be eating a diet that is high in calcium and protein with some vegetables thrown in for good measure.
If you are feeding your leopard gecko a good diet and they are still pooping clear liquid then it is worth taking them to see a vet as there may be an underlying health issue causing this.
Less common causes of a leopard gecko pooping clear liquid can be due to parasitic infections, stress or if the leopard gecko has been drinking too much water.
How Do I Treat My Leopard Gecko That Is Producing Clear Liquid?
The best way to treat a leopard gecko that is producing clear liquid is to take them to see a vet who will be able to diagnose the problem and offer the best course of treatment.
If your leopard gecko has just been scared or shocked then there is usually no need for treatment as they should return to normal once they have calmed down.
If your leopard gecko is pooping or vomiting clear liquid due to drinking too much water then it is best to offer them smaller drinks more often rather than one big drink.
